Official Release of the Transportation Package from ICS
JUNE 01, 2020 – On this first day of summer we are excited and proud to announce the official release of our first product – Transportation Package for Dynamics AX 2012 R3 and Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations!
This release could not come at a more critical time with the coronavirus pandemic forcing companies to seek new ways of making their supply chains more efficient, agile and resilient to volatile changes in demand. The sharp surges in orders experienced this year across multiple industries have put large amounts of stress on their supply chains and transportation networks. And this is exactly where our Transportation Package can make a big difference.
Over the years ICS team has amassed a wealth of experience in ERP implementations and customizations for numerous customers in the logistics and manufacturing industries. Through collaboration with these end-user companies we have identified some key common challenges that businesses in these sectors face in their daily operations. One of the outcomes of this work is our Transportation Package that was developed to expand the standard functionality of the Transportation Management module of Dynamics AX 2012 R3 and D365FO to include new features for dynamic route planning and delivery network management.
The Package is intended for companies – manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors, logistics providers, postal services, and others – that operate complex transportation networks and are faced with a challenge of their optimization to reduce total delivery costs and provide better customer service.
The Package allows to achieve this objective in an easy-to-use yet flexible, functional way. It seamlessly integrates into the Dynamics environment and further extends its functionality with some unique features and tools. In particular, the solutions included in the Package help the user with the following:
- Build in real time an optimal delivery route and perform its visual analysis;
- Plan cargo trips for a large number of orders for delivery by vehicles with different carrying capacities; and
- Plan and optimize transportation routes in a multi-echelon delivery network.
Some typical benefits that companies can achieve by implementing the Transportation Package include:
- Considerable reduction in route planning time.
- Greatly simplified overall workflow.
- Decreased operating costs through reduction in mileage, driving time and the number of vehicles used (and/or driver shifts).
- Improved customer service.
- Ease of use through complete integration into Dynamics AX 2012 R3 and D365FO environments.
Over the next few years, it is predicted that the development of new digital business models that support real-time planning and visibility, as well as agile supply chain execution capabilities will be the key to meeting the needs of the evolving consumer landscape. In these realities, the Transportation Package will be invaluable to companies seeking to deliver an elevated customer experience, improve their bottom line, and build stronger supply chains for the future.
